The requirements of materials data increase exponentially in this decade. A new era of material science is expected to start by applying artificial intelligence techniques to materials design, and materials big data is fundamental of it. In order to meet the requirements of the new era, new concepts and technologies are necessary in materials data acquisition, management, dissemination and quality control.

Since 2008, Asian Materials Data Symposium (AMDS) has been an important international platform for scientists and engineers from all of the world working on materials data and database to exchange information and opinions, and promote international collaboration.

It is our great honor to host the 7th AMDS in Japan. AMDS 2020 will be a great meeting for sharing the latest results and insights of materials data and data systems as well as to experience the beautiful nature and historic culture of Awaji Island.

On behalf of the local organization committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Awaji Island, Japan. We will make any effort to offer all the attendants a successful symposium and an enjoyable stay.
